  • 9/1/2013 Aleppo: Announcement by Colonel Abdel Jabbar al-Aqeidi and the Revolutionary Military Council for the Aleppo Governorate about the start of the "Lions of Aleppo for the Victory of the Coast of the Fathers," campaign to liberate areas on the Syrian coast. Armed opposition units involved are:

  • 9/13/2013 Aleppo: Words delivered by AF and a-Tawheed commanders at the unification ceremony o the two brigades. AF commander Radwan Qarandel delivers the first remarks and is followed by al-Tawheed military commander Hussein Aassaf. Both deliver remarks about the importance of unifying the armed opposition, while Qarandel makes mention that the goal is to establish shariah and raise the flag of Islam over the country of Muslims. Refers to Assad's gangs as Nuseiyri, a derogatory term for Alawites. Al-Tawheed commander Abdel Aziz Salamah, operations commander Abdel Qader Saleh, and various AF commanders are present.   • 9/13/2013 al-Qabtein/Aleppo: Interview w/ fighter from Ahrar al-Sharq Brigade and the commander of the Shuhada al-Arfad Battalion (AF) about operations to liberate the regime defense lab in the said area. Mentions that al-Tawheed Brigade supplied them w/ Konkurs and that they have destroyed four tanks. Also state they have been able to maintain control of the road to the lab. In addition to AF, those involved in the operations in said area are said to be:

  • 9/8/2013 Aleppo: Words delivered a few days prior to the merger of AF w/ al-Tawheed Brigade from the commander of al-Tawheed Brigade Abdel Aziz Salamah about the importance of unity and responsibility if they are to be victorious. Mockingly calls on the SNC to come try to rule them, and uses religious rhetoric and justification for the importance of unity.   • 9/10/2013: AF announces the martyrdom of an AF commander Muhamed Darbas, who had been active w/ AF since its founding. He played a role on the frontlines of Aazaz/Aleppo, Hreitan/Aleppo, Aleppo City, Minnigh Military Airport/Aleppo, the 93rd Brigade/al-Raqqa, and was killed in the fight for the regime defense lab in Maarat al-Arteeq/Aleppo.   • 9/13/2013 Aleppo: Al-Tawheed Military Commander Hussein Aassaf AKA Abu Tawfiq delivers words ahead of the al-Fatah - al-Tawheed Brigades' unification. Says that wile there are still many other groups, mentioning JAN and ISIS specifically, as long as the armed oppsotion all has the same goal, to implemenent sharia, then the rest will be easy.   • 9/13/2013 Aleppo: Press conference held with the leaders of AF and al-Tawheed Brigade around the unification of the two groups. Al-Tawheed's Abdel Qadir al-Saleh says the unification represent a total unification of leadership, policy, and fronts. He adds that it is the first step towards uniting the armed opposition in Aleppo, while steps are underway to unite opposition security forces in the governorate. AF's Radwan Qarandel adds that despite being two distinct groups, AF has never fought on a front w/o al-Tawheed, and he hopes this is the first step towards uniting groups in Aleppo and across Syria. Abdel Aziz Salamah of al-Tawheed Brigade states that al-Tawheed Brigade is willing to cooperate with any mujahideen seeking to topple the regime, no matter how extreme and points out that Hussein Aassif AKA Abu Tawfiq of al-Tawheed was responsible for matters dealing w/ the AF - al-Tawheed merger. AF Commander Radwan Qarandel, al-Tawheed Commander Abdel Aziz Salamah, al-Tawheed Operations Commander Abdel Qadir al-Saleh, and al-Tawheed Military Commander Hussein Aassaf are present.   • 9/13/2013 Aleppo: Words from AF and al-Tawheed commanders around the unification of the two groups. All very positive and reiterate the need to be united as they were at the start of the revolution in oredr to achieve victory. One commander mentions the that the unification had been called for originally by AF's founder, Ayman Aleito, in 2012 before he was martyred more than a year ago.
